Story
Lola Bunny or "Lola" for short is a boxer/pit bull mix that we adopted when we were living in Columbus, OH in April 2021. She is a little ball of energy, and loves chewing on sticks and rubber toys. She loves to run and jump around, she is very playful. She also loves to cuddle and have pets. When she likes you, she'll lick your face tons! Unfortunately, we've made the difficult decision to rehome her. She is very selective of who she wants to be friendly to, and that behavior doesn't mesh with my big extended family. She's never been aggressive towards people. She gets scared of people, growls, barks, and backs away. This makes a lot of my family members uncomfortable, so it has been challenging to accommodate for us.

Story
Social, curious, cheerful, adaptable, resilient, and incredibly handsome are just a few words to describe one of our newest rescues, Patches. Patch is a very special senior pup searching for a family as exceptional as he is. He came to Pal's Place from an overwhelmed animal control facility in Kentucky. An animal control facility is scary for almost any dog, but can you imagine how much more so for a senior blind dog? It's no secret that we at Pal's Place have a soft spot for seniors and special needs dogs, especially blind ones. As soon as we saw Patch's sweet face, we committed to welcoming him into our foster program. Our distinguished gentleman's age estimate is 10+ years old, and he weighs just under fifty pounds. We do not know much about his past or how he ended up at the shelter to begin with, but we know his future is bright, and we are committed to finding him the perfect home to spend his golden years in. Patches is entirely blind, but he does not let his disability define him or slow him down one bit! His tail is in constant motion, and his sunny, upbeat, and joyful attitude is contagious. He truly is a delight to be around. Affectionate and friendly by nature, Patch wears his heart on his sleeve. Kisses are freely distributed to all, and despite weighing close to 50 pounds, he identifies as a lap dog and often insists on curling up for a nap on his foster mom's lap. Patch learned his foster home's layout and mastered the stairs in less than two days. He now independently navigates all the stairs in the three-level home and has no trouble finding his way around all three floors. In unfamiliar environments with stairs, he has learned the word "Step". If he hears that word, he knows there are stairs or a step nearby and will proceed slowly and deliberately, with a bit of guidance from his humans, until he finds them. Patch needs a little patience and encouragement when introduced to new environments, but he's very inquisitive, always eager to learn and explore, and is a quick study! Once he is familiar with an environment, you'd never know he was blind. There is not much a sighted dog can do that a blind dog cannot, and most blind dogs do not need any additional or specialized care other than a bit of guidance in new environments. Patch loves chewing on bones, cuddling with his canine foster siblings, walkies, and napping in the sun. He is housebroken and well-behaved in the home and is trustworthy with free run of the home when alone. He is generally quiet but can be vocal when he wants or needs something. He will alert you if he needs to go outside, and he will not let you forget a mealtime 🙂 This easy-going, adaptable dude will do well in most environments and be a phenomenal companion for one lucky household. Patches has painful glaucoma in both eyes, and to provide him with a comfortable and pain-free life, he is scheduled for a double eye enucleation (removal) at the time of his neuter on November 20th. He'll look a bit different than other dogs once his eyes are removed, but he will be pain-free, and that's what matters. Patches also need a dental cleaning and, unfortunately, has also tested positive for heartworm. Thankfully, he's in the early stages of the heartworm infection and symptom-free. He is expected to make a full recovery after treatment. Patch's dental and heartworm treatment will be scheduled once he's fully recovered from his neuter and eye surgery. Patch is available for adoption before his dental and heartworm treatment so he can begin adjusting to his forever home, provided his adopters agree to bring him back to a partner veterinary clinic of Pal's Place for his remaining medical. Pal's Place will cover the dental and heartworm treatment costs, so there is no additional expense to his adopters other than our standard adoption fee of $275 for senior dogs. • Patches is being fostered in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Patches's adoption fee is $275. This fee covers any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Patches from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not apply until you are ready to adopt.

Story
Indiana Jones AKA Indy is being fostered in Salem WI Introducing Indy - the laid-back, yet playful, 45-pound black tricolor bobtail standard Australian Shepherd who is as charming as he is handsome! With those adorable head tilts and a personality that just melts your heart, Indy is the perfect blend of brains, beauty, and love.  His date of birth is May 6, 2024.  This 6 month old sweetheart will be about 55-65lbs when full grown.  Indy is an all-around great companion who gets along with everyone – dogs, cats, and humans alike. His friendly, easy-going nature makes him the ideal addition to any home. Whether he's hanging out with his furry friends or getting attention from his favorite humans, Indy is always eager to make new friends. He may occasionally try to ride other dogs, but he’s quick to respond to corrections and gets along with others just fine. This smart boy is not only friendly but also well-behaved. Indy is crate trained, potty trained, and already knows the commands “sit” and “shake.” He picks up new things quickly, so teaching him more tricks will be a breeze! Indy strikes the perfect balance between being playful and relaxed. Whether it's an afternoon of fun in the yard or curling up for a nap indoors, he's happy to go with the flow. With a moderate energy level, Indy is content with either active play or some chill time on the couch. He's the type of pup who’s ready to go play, but also knows how to unwind and enjoy quiet time with his favorite humans. If you're looking for a smart, sweet, and adaptable puppy with the perfect balance of personality, Indy might be your guy! What is Indy seeking in his forever home?  They will patiently guide and lead this smart, spirited puppy-giving him time to grow into himself.  They see continued training and a lifetime of engaging their dog as a natural part of having a canine family member. His home will respect and understand herding breed dogs.  Indy would welcome another dog about his size who appreciates his style of play. Will ensure Indy is part of the family and take him on adventures. Fostered in Salem, WI. Read the bio carefully. Priority is given to the pup's needs in choosing the adopter to ensure a happy forever and a good match. Indy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2226888##
