Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We are sad to report that Roux was returned to us this weekend so he is now back up for adoption. Please read his post from beginning to end because he needs a loving and patient family and one WILLING to take Roux to training. He's had a rough life so far.
Roux is a WONDERFUL dog, but before we go any further, we're going to tell you straight out - he needs a home with no kids, no cats and no birds. He doesn't seem to like dogs here at the shelter but has done well with them at the vet and in his previous home.
Roux came to us with a terrible case of heartworm. So between his treatment, restrictions and some behavior issues, this poor boy was stuck at in our shelter for 6 months!!!
Roux is a happy-go-lucky pup but can get possessive of his people and may nip at visitors that come to the home. He also doesn't appreciate active children and will nip at them as well.
Because of his high energy level and the possibility that he may guard things, we want Roux to go to an experienced dog person who would be willing to hire a trainer.
Still with us? Great! Because Roux is one special dog!
Like we said, he's high energy! He'll be perfect for hikes, treadmill work, running, agility - whatever you like (as soon as the vet gives the all clear)!
And he is SMART! Roux knows sit, shake/paw, sit up pretty, lay down, and he's house trained! Here at the shelter, Roux can come in from a walk, and follow commands to go to his room, sit, and wait while someone gets him a treat! Regular routine and rewards can make this clever, people-pleasing pup absolutely SHINE!
Best part? Once he's burned off a little energy, he's a lap dog! Well, he's a bit too big to fit all in your lap, but he'll lay his head in your lap, anyway!

Roux is a 2 year old Lab mix, who is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Roux needs an experienced adopter willing to continue his training. His adoption fee is $100 but once the adopter shows proof he is in training, we will reimburse the adoption fee. Stop out to meet him during our open hours of 12-4 (closed Mondays and Wednesdays). If you have an existing dog, a meet and greet is required.
