My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Frisco and I am a 7-8 year old neutered male Poodle who was found as a stray in Detroit and ended up in a local shelter where some kind folks reached out to my new friends at NBS Animal Rescue to help me find my fur-ever home.

I am a sweet fella who gets along well with other small / medium dogs who are friendly and mellow and enjoy getting pet and having my belly rubbed by my humans I trust. My past life wasn't very kind to me as I was not well cared for. My fur was severely matted and my teeth were rotting in my gums. I had to have 15 teeth removed over two dental surgeries but I'm feeling MUCH better now!! Someone wasn't very kind to me in my past life as I do not like to be picked up. I can jump up on the chair/couch to snuggle with you just fine - but I do not want to be picked up and am looking for a family who will respect that. I take a bit of time to trust new people - but once I know you won't hurt me and will respect my wishes not to be picked up we quickly become the very bestest of friends!

I like to go for walks, play fetch in my foster homes fenced yard, and love treats! I'm doing really well with learning how to potty outside, but I do have an occasional accident still. Big dogs, or pushy/hyper dogs tend to scare me a bit so I would prefer a fur-ever home with another small/medium sized dog who is friendly.

I think kids are great little people - but I would do best in a home without children. I hope my fur-ever family is home often to spend time with me too. Maybe my fur-ever family is a retired dog lover who is home often??? I promise I'm a great little companion!

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
- No children or extra-large/hyper dogs please.
- Home with another small/medium friendly dog preferred.
- 100% fenced in yard preferred, or detailed description of multiple daily walks listed on application. No invisible fences please.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
